Recently, Pedigree Dynamics was asked by his owners to find former top Sydney
galloper Oh Oklahoma a new home at stud.
The Tim Martin trained son of Singspiel won
both his two year old starts at Rosehill before a very courageous short head 2nd
at Randwick. His owners’ aim was the AJC Derby
with the STC Rosehill Guineas as a stepping stone.
In a field which included subsequent Group 1
winners HEADTURNER and TESTAFIABLE and stakes winners PRIMUS, HOTEL GRAND and
DREAM BALLAD, Oh Oklahoma was posted wide throughout in the Rosehill Guineas
and gamely chased DE BEERS to within a neck, earning second place.
Contracting a virus the week before the AJC
Derby, he finished his 3YO
season rated 2nd on the 2005-06 Australasian Classification (Intermediate)
after his 2nd in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas and 3rd (against older horses) in the
Gr3 Randwick City Stakes.
Oh Oklahoma
did not get another opportunity at Group 1 level and eventually retired with a
knee chip, scoring another city win along the way. He ended his 3 yo year rated second on the Intermediate Australasian Handicap.
Renowned for his movie star looks, Oh Oklahoma’s retirement to stud in the Hunter Valley
happened to coincide with the outbreak of Equine Influenza. Despite this restricted start, he has
produced some outstanding types, the oldest of which have just turned two
years.
While plenty of hands went up to stand "Okey", the successful stud is David Houston’s Allan Hills
Farm, Nagambie. The only son of Singspiel located in Victoria, Oh Oklahoma
provides a great outcross for Danehill line maresDavid has many years' experience on Throughbred farms and welcomes Oh Oklahoma to take his place alongside first
season stallion Shield, a Redoute’s Choice half brother to exciting young sire,
Domesday. The only son of Singspiel located in Victoria, Oh Oklahoma
provides a great outcross for Danehill line mares. We are happy to pass on any enquiries on either stallion.
